Whenever someone tells me they’re expecting their first baby and they’re nervous, I tell them the following: ‘Oh my goodness, that’s wonderful. I am so happy for you. Listen, of course you’re nervous but here’s the deal: you’re ready for all the bad stuff. You’ve been very tired before. You’ve been in pain before. You’ve been worried about money before. You’ve felt like an incapable moron before. So you’ll be fine with the difficult parts! You’re already a pro. What you’re NOT ready for is the wonderful parts. NOTHING can prepare you for how amazing this will be. There is no practice for that.’

Remember… in between Henry's birth and his death was, of course, his life. That was my favorite part. — Rob Delaney

You forget that my son dies. Then you remember. The you forget again. I don’t forget. I don’t hanker much about Victorian times, but the idea of wearing all black following the death of someone you love makes a lot of sense to me. For a while, anyway, I’d have liked you to know, even from across the street or through a telescope, that I am grieving.
I don’t even know how to review this book. Rob Delaney, a comedian and actor best known for his role in Catastrophe, wrote a book about his son who died. When little Henry was only eleven months old, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. From there, this little boy would spend the next fourteen months hospitalized, mostly recovering from brain surgery that left him with some disabilities.
For a while it seemed like little Henry was slowly getting better and he was allowed to come home. But the cancer returned and nothing could be done to save the toddler.
A gifted writer and obviously deep in grief, Delaney’s ode to his son is like nothing I’ve ever read. Part love letter, part angry diatribe, part muses on parenting and part advocacy for sick kids and universal health care, it’s so deeply touching and laced with humor.
Only to be read at a time where you’ll be able to cry openly, and be prepared to keep thinking about Henry and the family who loves him for a very long time after you’re done reading.

A Pragmatic and surprisingly comforting perspective about the Trump 2nd Presidency from the ACLU

I’m not going to let this make me give up. It’s disheartening, and today I will wallow, probably tomorrow too
AND
I will continue to do my part in my community to spread the activism and promote change for the world I want to live in. I want to change the world AND help with the dishes.
And I won’t let an orange pit stain be what stops me from trying to be better.
A link to donate to the ACLU if able and inclined. I know I am

I just wanna say bc I KNOW you're somewhere on tumblr, to the teenage girl who attended Take Your Kid To Work Day at an office building in Ontario, Canada circa 2013 and had a conversation with a middle aged woman in which you showed her your Black Veil Brides fanart and fanfics and ship content and told her about different fanfic tropes including a/b/o verse bc she happened to know who Panic! at The Disco and Fallout Boy were and thus you felt the need to show her your bandblr ship art, that was my fucking mother and I had to clarify all that to her including looking my mother in the eye and trying to explain a/b/o verse without sounding like a lunatic.
It's been 10 years and I still regularly sent evil energies in your direction. Since you'd be probably two years younger than me and thus legally an adult now, please know if this post reaches you it's on sight.

Danny: I was told to report to you
Alfred: Who told you that?
Danny: Didn't get his name, but it was a man with black hair, blue eyes, tall and sad?
Alfred: That's could be so many in this manor. Can you be more specific?
Danny: um, he was pretending to be stupid at last night gala?
Alfred: More specific
Danny: He yelled "Eat the rich" before nose diving into the glass tower.
Alfred: That's was Master Jason. Did he tell you why you needed to report to me?
Danny: He told me to give this to you when I found you *hands over folded paper*
Alfred reading: Dear Alfred, here is a boy who agreed to work part-time as a cook for the mannor while you recover from your broken arm and broken legs . Let me know if he becomes a problem. I'll kill him for you. Heart Jason
Danny: ....He was joking about the killing part right?
Alfred: No, he put a heart. He is rather serious.
Danny strain nervous smile: Oh
Alfred: Not that it matters. If you ARE a problem, I will put a bullet between your eyes before you can beg. Working legs or not. Now then, how about I show you the kitchen, yeah?
Danny: .....the pay is what again?
Alfred: Five hundred for each meal you prepare and an hourly salary of twenty-nine dollars for how long it takes you to cook.
Danny: Aight, I'm desperate enough. Lead the way sir.
Alfred studying him: You may survive the Waynes yet.
Danny: Wait. What does that mean?
Alfred: This way *rolling away in wheel chair*
Danny: SIR!? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
